Get to know Claudio Cerasoli of Italy, one of our 2025 Global Ambassadors.
A little bit about Claudio in their own words…
I’ve always been passionate about traveling, and through the years, I’ve had the opportunity to experience many different styles of it. However, it was not until my mid-40s that I tried bicycle touring. Then it became my favorite, perfectly resonating with the slower and more sustainable lifestyle I have chosen after quitting a corporate job that took me around the world in a much more comfortable way. Bike touring allows you to explore new places and rediscover old ones from a different perspective, it helps reconnect to nature and your deeper self, and it is a great life coach, teaching you to let go of the burden of what you don’t need to carry along your journey.
Why did you decide to become a Warmshowers Global Ambassador?
When I started touring by bicycle, I immediately joined Warmshowers, and after all the many good experiences I had through it, I’m looking forward to helping this wonderful community grow further. I do believe that traveller communities are an amazing way to create connections and to build bridges across different cultures, remarkably improving the experience of those who tour and allowing those who host to make discoveries without leaving their home.
Share a memorable Warmshowers experience with us…
Some of the best Warmshowers experiences are those that allow us to build long-lasting relationships. For example, last year, I had the chance to host a Warmshowers friend at my home in Italy who had previously hosted me at the end of my bike tour from Italy to Hungary. Two other people who hosted me 3-4 years ago recently invited me to join them on new tours. Cases like these are relatively common, but nonetheless precious. However the most memorable experiences generally happen when you step out of your comfort zone, and that happened to me when I was hosted by someone who chose to live as far as possible from anyone else, working hard to self-support themselves in the middle of a lush valley: spending some time there was very inspiring and allowed me to learn something new while recharging in the middle of a challenging tour. Another completely different example was being hosted in a large and busy city that may otherwise have resulted in not so pleasant an experience on two wheels. In the end, it is not about what others give you, but how welcome they make you feel.
